The NSERC Network for Holistic Innovation in Additive Manufacturing (HI-AM) has welcomed three new industrial partners: Equispheres Inc., GE Additive (AP&C), and KSB SE & Co. KGaA. Under the agreement approved by Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) on December 13, 2019, these new members will support the R&D activities of the HI-AM Network focused on facilitating the industrialization of metal additive manufacturing (AM) in Canada.
“The addition of these three companies, which are well-positioned in the AM industry and the associated supply-chain, will foster the Network’s activities while allowing the members to enjoy their exemplary AM expertise”, said the Network Director, Professor Ehsan Toyserkani.
These newly formed partnerships will help the HI-AM Network to fulfill its mandate of securing Canadian leadership in metal AM by engaging key industry players.
Equispheres is an Ontario-based materials science company specializing on production of highly spherical metal powders with uniform size for additive manufacturing and cold spray applications. Active in aerospace and automotive sectors, Equispheres focuses on reducing the weight and improving the mechanical performance of AM products.
GE Additive is a part of General Electric focused on providing end-to-end solutions to additive manufacturing users. A pioneer in powder bed systems, GE Additive includes Quebec-based powder producer AP&C, and machine manufacturers Arcam EBM and Concept Laser. AP&C will be the main participant in the HI-AM Network.
KSB is a world-wide supplier of pumps, valves and related systems. Headquartered in Frankenthal, Germany, KSB provides metal additive manufacturing services through consulting, testing, design for additive manufacturing, etc. The company has had presence in Canada through KSB Pumps Inc. since 1990.
