All HI-AM Network participants meet once a year to present their research findings to the other research teams within the Network and the representatives of our industrial partners. Hosted by a different institution each year, the conference provides a great networking opportunity for the graduate students and PDFs to get to know their colleagues – future additive manufacturing experts of Canada! These annual meetings will strengthen the relationship among the research team leaders and the supporting organizations. Moreover, they will demonstrate the value, relevance, and importance of the research on-going in HI-AM Network.
For graduate students and post-doc fellows
The conference will include Keynote speeches delivered by AM experts from academia and industry, oral presentations, and poster sessions. Moreover, working sessions are designed to increase the cross-disciplinary cooperation and one-on-one interaction between HQP and scientific leaders. The goal of these workshops is encouraging the student collaboration across themes by:
1) increasing their understanding of the role of their research on the outcomes of the Network,
2) discussing and resolving any common issues regarding the management of Network,
3) suggesting training improvements.
For principal investigators
Theme meetings are organized during the conference to coordinate yearly research activities, use of equipment and address any issues that have arisen in the previous year. Appropriate industry and government researchers, university-industry liaison officer, and design engineers will be asked to participate in these meetings to provide input on the results of the research program and advise on new research directions.
For governing body
The annual vis-à-vis meeting of board of directors (BOD), scientific advisory committee (SAC), and commercialization and outreach committee (COAC) will be held at the conclusion of the conference.
